Web Page: The site is www.ncwoutdoors.com and
has lots of excellent information on hunting and outdoor activities. If you
have questions or information contact Ron Bruno at 884-9369.
Lifetime Memberships: We offer and welcome lifetime memberships.
The cost is a one time $250.00 fee. That does not include free access to our
annual game feed.
Game Feed: Our annual game feed is coming up in February and we
are setting our sights on doubling or trippling our profits. To do so, we will
be offering more large item prizes to accomplish this mission. We need your
help to solicit sponsors or co-sponsors for large item donations. If you have
any questions, call Matt Gutzwiler at 663-1526, Bill Stegeman at 663-7525 or
Mike Sprague at 782-5029. Our freezer is located at 1570 Tedford St. in East
Wenatchee. It is accessable 24 hours everyday to drop off wild game meat. If
you need directions call George Komro at 884-5359. Call Ron Bruno at 884-9369 or
Irv Garney at 884-3071 for any donated game meat that needs to be cut up.
Wallace Endowment Grant: : This is money available for wildlife
improvements such as feeders and spring improvements. These projects can be
performed on public or private properties. Contact Larry Wadkins at 663-5870.
Applications must be post marked by December 31, 2000.
Department Report:Tom McCall had to change the bird feeder
filling date in the upper Chelan County to November 15. Meet at the department
office on the Chelan Highway at 8:00am. You will need to bring a lunch, two 5
gallon plastic pails (if you have some) and plastic large enough to cover the
tailgate area.
*Pete plans to fill the Colockum area feeders December 2. Meet at the Colockum
headquarters at 8:00am and bring lunch, foul weather gear, one or two 5 gallon
plastic pails and a plastic tarp to cover the tail gate area.
*Bob Perleberg reports the Wenatchee and Entiat Rivers will open for whitefish
fishing December 1 and close March 31. Refer to the fishing pamphlet for
sections of the two rivers that are open, or contact Bob for areas.
*Special cougar-hound permit deadline is November 15th. Bob has an instruction
sheet with a list of things you must do when applying for the permit. The sheet
can only be picked up at regional offices. Bob's phone is 662-0452.
*There will be two pheasant release dates in November in the Swakane, Colockum
and on the Chelan Butte. Because of the potential safety issue due to hunter
congestion at the release sites, we have been asked not to publish the dates.
That information can be obtained by contacting the department office at
662-0452.
*Desert Unit deer count: This will take place sometime in late November. Bob
will be more than happy to give you that date when it is set.
Past Program: Roger Peffer spoke to us on the importance of
voting NO on I-713. This initiative would ban trapping in
Washington. Should this newletter get out in time we asked that you call
several friends or neighbors to vote NO also.
Program: This is the first of two horn shows. We are looking
forward to viewing many fine animals, antlers and horns. The hunting stories
are appreciated also. Bring a friend and come out to the meeting to enjoy the
displays. Treats and coffee as usual.
