Game Feed: Once again, a special round of applause to the
following people and groups who helped make our game feed a success. The two
individuals are Matt Gutzwiler, who spent the past 3 months putting it together
and Tom Obergen who again prepared another outstanding dinner. Then there are
the members who have donated time and energy since the last game feed
processing donated game meat, collecting donations, giving donations, helping
in the kitchen, setting up the dining room, washing dishes all day and into the
late night and finally cleaning up and putting things away. A special thanks to
Ron and Don Jagla and Neil Fulwiler for donating rifles and to Matt at One
Shot. Matt handled our legal aspects of the firearms. Thanks also to Weinstien
Beverage and Columbia Distributing for the pepsi and beer products. An extra
special thank you goes out to the individuals who participated in attending the
game feed --- you are the ones who make it the success that it is.
Department Report: For those who didn't know, Bob Perleberg is
recovering at Harborview Intensive Care Unit in Seattle. Bob had a serious
ailment which happened February 13. Let us hope and pray he has a speedy recovery.
We will have to refer to the Hunting and Fishing pamphlets for opening and
closing dates while Bob is recouperating. Tom McCall reports there will be two
pigmy rabbitt counts: the first one will be the last week of March and the
second one will be the second week of April. There will be a sage hen and
sharptail grouse survey the first couple of weeks of March. If interested
contact Tom at 665-3391. Bob Steele who is with the department's fishery
program is organizing a shrub planting project in two areas. This will involve
planting 7000 shrubs along stream banks. More on this in the next newsletter.
