General Meeting:April
8, 2002 at 7:30 PM at the Eagles Lodge on 9th St.
OOPS!!:We must apologize to those of you who filled out the
survey during our game feed. Our speedy cleanup crew threw them out as they
cleared the tables. If, by chance, you had any questions, concerns or items to
donate, feel free to call Matt Gutzwiler at 663-1526. Another connection is
---- the Mule Deer Foundation banquet which is Saturday, April 20th at the
Chelan County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 4:00pm, dinner at 6:00. Contact person
is Tracy Manning at 663-6343. the "Colockum Chapter" of the Rocky
Mountain Elk Foundation will have their banquet Saturday, May 18th at the
Chelan County Fairgrounds also. Doors open at 4:30pm and dinner is at 6:30.
Contact people are Wayne Christensen at 663-3761 or Nick Brunner at 665-2422.
Turkey Hunt Alert!!:A REMINDER!! - The Wenatchee Sportsmen
Association and the "C.W. Boss Toms" (NWTF) are requesting all turkey
hunters NOT TO HUNT turkeys that have been released in Chelan and
northern Kittitas Counties. Please discourage other hunters from hunting them
in our area also. We need to give them two more years to get established. Most
hunters travel to Lincoln or Stevens counties. Bob Perleberg and Bureau of Land
Management on Walla Walla St. have maps of public lands in both of those
counties.
Nomination of Officers:Nomination of officers is coming up in
April and elections are in May. SO, be thinking of those you think would do a
fine job of running the club for the next year. If you don't want to be
nominated best you be at the April meeting.
Initiative 713:Despite all of the lobbying by members of
Washingtonians For Wildlife Conservation, I-713 (animal trapping) failed to
render enough votes in Olympia to reverse the voter approved law. The above
group is having their annual banquet and auction Saturday, June 8th in
Puyallup. For more information contact Mike Sprague at 782-5029.
Department Report:Bob Perleberg reports ---- all hunting and
fishing licenses expire March 31st. New licenses and tags can be purchased now;
however, special permits can't be purchased until after the new hunting
pamphlet arrives around May 1st. New fishing pamphlets arrive in late April.
General lowland lakes open April 27th. Your "Wild I.D. number" is all
that is needed to purchase a new license --- UNLESS you were one of the
25% who didn't report your hunting results last fall. New license purchases may
be done by phone, computer or in person.
Hamburger Special:If you show the owners at Jitters and Shakes
your current (2002) Wenatchee Sportsman's Association membership card they will
give you two burgers for the price of one. They are located on the eastside of
3rd St and Rock Island Road in East Wenatchee. If you have questions contact
Ron Bruno at 884-9369.
Help Still Needed:We did not get any takers who will work on
logging hours worked and miles driven for this year. If interested please give
Bill Stegeman a call 663-7529.
Spring Projects:There are some spring projects coming up soon,
along with other activities. We will keep you posted. Also, we have a lot of
club history that one of our members should be capitalizing on and recording
for future use. Please help if you can.
Program:Beau Patterson, our new biologist, will be our program.
He will introduce himself and share some things with the group and then field
any questions we may have.
Membership:Still time to renew your membership or invite a new
member to join, contact Ron Bruno at 884-9369 so you can get your membership
updated. It can also be done via our website at www.ncwoutdoors.com
