General Meeting:  March 18, 2008                                                   Steel Workers Hall – 180 Rock Island RoadEast Wenatchee

Special Recognition and Awards:   “Sportsmen of the Year” for 2008 went to Bill Morrison for his donation of time, tools and truck miles volunteering on work parties.  “Special Recognition” awards went to Ruth Low, Richard Gutzwiler and Mike Jacobucci for their donation of time.

A Special Thank You!!:  An extra special thank you goes out to all of the individuals who helped make the game feed another success.  This means all the way from Gene Robard and his committee to the kitchen crew, floor set up crew, the evening working crew and right down to the individuals who came and enjoyed another great wild game feed.  The small Tuesday morning cleanup crew needs a thank you also.

The Most Important Thank You:  The biggest thank you goes out to the 130 or 140 individuals and businesses who donated money and/or items.  Many thanks again.

Food For Thought:  The club would like your thoughts at our March meeting on the possibility of the club purchasing a used full size pickup for club use.  Bring your thoughts and ideas to the meeting.

Big Horn Mount:  Aaron Mathison was the highest sealed bidder on the “Big Horn Mount” that was on display at our game feed.  This includes having the mount on display and bidding at a FNAWS Banquet held on the coast a week or so later.  The funds collected will go towards maintenance on the 97-A fence project.  A hearty congratulations and thank you to Aaron.  It also needs to be noted that “Creative Taxidermy” mounted the head for us free of charge.

Department Report:  Spring bear permits are due by March 13th.  Turkey season starts Tuesday April 15th.  A reminder – all “catch record cards” for salmon, sturgeon, steelhead, alibut and crab must be in by April 30th.

New Biologists:   There are two new biologists on board, Dave Volsen arrived late last fall from the Spokane area and Jon Gallie arrived February 1st from the Olympic Peninsula area.  Both have indicated they would like to be called anytime volunteer help is needed.

March Program:  Art Viola will be our program and will be talking to us about projects where he could use volunteers.  We as a club spend all of our time with wildlife but not enough time with fisheries.  We have another potential volunteer project coming up this fall.  This project will be addressed but not acted on until we get more information.

April Program:  Jennifer Diaz from the Wild Horse Wind Project (Puget Sound Energy) will be with us again in April.

May Program:  The club is still trying to hook up with the Grizzly bear fellow.
