Reminders About The Game
Feed: Lots of volunteer help is needed with the game feed so
contact Gene Robard at 662-6277 if you can help.
Date: February 21, 2009, with doors opening at 5:00 pm and dinner served at 6:00 pm.
Directions to
Apple Annie’s: It is located on the right at the first stop
light as you come into Cashmere from the east.
The “Conservatory” is located on the east end of the building. You can drive through the parking lot around
to the back by staying to the left side of the building, or you can take Eel Road
around to the back.
Alcohol Concerns: Due
to the concerns of alcohol consumption and driving, a decision was to contract
out the alcohol sales. Thus the club
will have a “No Host Bar”. The club looked into carrying insurance, but
the cost was prohibitive for a one-time use.
We are sorry for making the change, but feel we couldn’t financially
handle any lawsuits.
Upcoming
Events: There will be a “Youth Archery Competition”
at Clovis Point Middle School in East Wenatchee on April 12, 2009. Your help is needed. There will be more coming in the March
newsletter.
National Wild Turkey Federation will have
their banquet at Apple Annie’s Conservatory March 28th. Doors open at 5:00pm and dinner at
7:00pm. Ticket sales are at One Shot
and Hooked on Toys.
Salmon/Steelhead
Stamp: The WDFW is proposing a means to raise
additional funds for the “Upper Columbia River Recreational Salmon and
Steelhead Pilot Stamp Program”. This
fund will fund the un-funded portion of the “Federal Endangered Species Act”. The stamp fee will maintain and / or enhance
selected salmon and steelhead fisheries in the Upper Columbia River and its
tributaries. Those affected would be
anyone 15 years old and older. The cost
per salmon / steelhead stamp is $15.00.
Our local contact person is Dave Graybill, email: fishboy@nwi.net. The only I.D. information is “bill reg.#:5-0780.l/.09”.
Youth
Camp: As we become aware of our states financial
affairs, we also become aware of cuts being proposed in Olympia. One of those cuts would be funding to the
Youth Camp where we have sent several young boys and girls. That camp is Moran Outdoor School on Orcas
Island. The school is part of the State
Parks Department. Moran State Park
isn’t on the chopping block but the school is.
While things aren’t final, we need to contact our local
representatives. Ask them to continue
funding the school. Contact Senator
Linda Evan Parlette at: parlette.Linda@leg.wa.gov., Representative Cary Condotta at: condotta.cary@leg.wa.gov., Representative Mike Armstrong at: armstrong.mike@leg.wa.gov.
March
Program: The March program will be Kevin Powers, from
4-H Eco-stewardship, with a program on connecting kids to nature.
Upcoming
Program: There has been lots of concerns about tribal
hunting in the Colockum Wildlife Area and else where, usually around our elk
hunting season. Plans are that the
meeting will be opened to the public.
More in next newsletter.
Time
and Hours: Ron Poppe again reminds us to track and
record our hours and miles, including related meetings. Get them to Ron at 662-3957.
If you can’t
make the game feed, remember to get your 2009 membership dues paid as soon as
possible. This will keep you on the
newsletter mailing list.
