General Meeting:  November 17, 2009      7:00pm                                Steel Workers Hall – 180 Rock Island Road – East Wenatchee

Freighted Meat:  On a pre-arranged approval, the Sportsmen’s Association will pay the freight on up to 60 lbs of exotic or other wild game meat from an individual. This is being done on game meat flown in from a distant place.

Early Call For Game Meat:  Ron Bruno, as always, is looking for wild -game meat.  There are coolers at Neil Fulwiler’s (663-9076) and Ron Bruno’s (679-2359) as well as a freezer at George Komro’s. The meat needs to be skinned, clean, wrapped and marked as to the species and type of cuts.  George’s home is located at 1570 Tedford (884-5359).  Ron has also made arrangements with Fred Perry of Eastmont Custom Meats to receive donated and/or emergency wild game that is locker ready (skinned and clean).  You can contact Fred at 884-3777.

Meat Cutter / Meat Receivers:  Ron Bruno can use some meat cutters who will help cut and wrap meat.  Also, people he can call on at a moments notice to pick up and care for unexpected donated game meat.  Get in touch with Ron if you can be of help (679-2359).

Department Report:  Remember to call in or e-mail your mandatory harvest/non-harvest report.  You must do so if you hunted bear, deer, elk or turkey.  You may do so by phone 1-877-945-3492 or online at: fishhunt@dfw.wa.gov.

Highway 97A Wildlife Fence : Just a reminder when traveling 97A, the big horns, as well as mule deer may be seen at both ends of the fence, please use extreme caution in these areas.  Phase one of two should be complete by this newsletter time.  When accessing this area, remember some of the property is private, and may require permission from the owner. Be sure to close all gates behind you.  .

Please contact your Legislators for support of the additional funding needed to complete Phase two. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO GET THIS PROJECT FINISHED IN A TIMELY MANNER!

Feeder Fillings:  Pete will be filling feeders in the Colockum area in November or early December.  If you are interested in helping give Bill Stegeman a call at 663-7529 or cell is 393-9528.  There are local feeders in the Stemilt Basin, Cashmere and Wheeler Hill areas to be filled.

Program Thank You:  Many thanks to Aaron Kelly for his “fill-in” program on the people and hunting in Africa.

November Program:  Eric Braaten from the Grand Coulee Wildlife Area will be with us and will talk to us about his area (which includes Blue Grade).  There has been some changes in the Blue Grade area that will be of interest to us.

December Program:  Due to the lack of interest of member participation in the “Little Big Horn Show”, it has been decided to discontinue the horn show and replace it with a regular program.  However, you are welcome to bring in your trophy to share at any meeting.
