Salmon
Derby: A couple months ago, Dave Graybill approached the
club about hosting a Salmon Derby on the Columbia River around the 4th
of July. There was a general consensus
to do so. There was a concern raised as
to whether there would be enough member volunteers to put on such a derby. Thus Ron Poppe and Bill Stegeman were given
permission to talk to the Lake Chelan Sportsman’s Club to maybe co-host the
derby. On January 13th Ron
and Bill attended their meeting and discussed the derby issue with them. They are interested in doing some serious
discussions. Before we get too involved
into the planning stage, one of their members Al Brooks,
will come down and talk with our club.
Al suggests taking a year to do a well planned out derby. The Lake Chelan Club is well experienced in
hosting derby’s since they hosted one on Lake Chelan for many years. This is an opportunity for members more
interested in fishing to get involved.
So, be at the March 16th meeting and let your thoughts be
known. The decision to go forward and /
or drop the derby idea will be made at that meeting.
Secretary’s
Position: The secretary’s position is still open and
needs to be filled. As Bill stated, “I
said ‘adios’ as of December 2009 and will not be your secretary come March 16th”.
March
Program: The March program will be Eric Braaten (Grand
Coulee Wildlife Manager) will talk to us about Blue Grade. Al Brooks (Lake Chelan Sportsman’s Club will
talk about hosting a possible Salmon Derby on the Columbia River in July 2011.

record our hours and miles, including related meetings. Get them to Ron at 662-3957.
