General Meeting: 7:00pm, Tuesday May 21, 2013
Steel Workers Hall - 180 Rock Island Road – East Wenatchee
Kids Fishing Days: Rock Island Pond produced lots of fish and happy kids. Some real nice fish were caught and a good time had by all. Kids fishing days will be June 1st at Leavenworth and June 8th at Entiat. Volunteers are needed to help. We are looking for some big nets and some sturdier fishing gear to use for loaners at Entiat so if you have some gear you would be willing to supply call Ron Bruno (679-2359), take them to the WDFW office on Chelan Highway, or bring them to the meeting.
Orcas Island: Summer camp applications are due for boys and girls. Contact Gordon Goodwin (663-3620) for information. The camp runs for a week in July. Wenatchee Sportsmen sponsors campers each year.
Elections: There will be no election of officers this year since they have a two year term. There will be an election for executive board members.
Work Projects: Spring work projects are beginning. A crew from Wenatchee Sportsmen went with volunteers from the Chelan Douglas Land Trust to the Wallace property to show them how we remove old fencing. A bird feeder was removed from the Knowles property. More projects are ongoing. Contact Bill Stegeman (663-7529) if you are interested in joining in. If you know of work projects that could be done, bring the information to the meeting.
Up Coming Events: Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet will be held 4:30 PM, May 18th at the Fair Grounds in Cashmere. Twenty guns to be auctioned, raffled, or won in games plus many other prizes. There will be no tickets at the door but they can be obtained from Holly Berdan (663-2419) or firstname.lastname@example.org in advance.
Department Report: The Game Commission passed a Emergency Rule (WAC 232-36-05100B Killing wildlife causing private property damage) permitting ranchers, farmers, pet and livestock owners to kill a wolf in the process of attacking their animals in the Eastern third of Washington.
